A healthy smile starts sooner than you think. At Flower Hill Dental Care, we believe that infant oral exams are a critical foundation for your child’s lifelong dental health. While baby teeth may seem temporary, early visits allow us to catch potential issues before they develop—and help you, as a parent, confidently care for your child’s smile.
Our gentle, compassionate team is trained to make your baby’s first dental visit a positive, stress-free experience. During the exam, we assess gum health, tooth development, and signs of early decay, while also answering your questions about teething, thumb-sucking, and proper cleaning techniques.
By starting dental care as early as age one, your child becomes comfortable at the dentist and begins forming healthy oral habits that last. Early exams can also help prevent cavities and reduce the need for more extensive treatments later in childhood.
Infant Oral Exams

Regular dental checkups for kids are one of the most effective ways to protect their growing smiles. At Flower Hill Dental Care, we focus on gentle preventive care that sets your child up for a lifetime of healthy habits and strong teeth.
Our compassionate hygienists guide your child through a fun and comfortable cleaning experience, helping them learn how to brush and floss the right way. We may also take digital X-rays and apply a fluoride treatment to strengthen enamel and protect against cavities.
Your dentist will then perform a thorough exam, checking for signs of decay, bite development, and other dental concerns. If any treatment is needed, we’ll explain your options clearly—always with your child’s comfort and your peace of mind in focus.
Children's Cleanings & Dental Exams

At Flower Hill Dental Care, we use low-radiation digital X-rays to safely and precisely monitor your child’s oral health through every stage of growth. These advanced images help us detect cavities early—often before there are any signs of discomfort—so we can treat problems with less invasive, more affordable solutions.
Digital X-rays give our dentists a clear view of your child’s developing smile. We can monitor how incoming teeth are erupting, assess jaw alignment, and determine whether future orthodontic care may be needed. They also help us identify hidden concerns that a visual exam might miss.
By catching issues early, some problems can be managed or even reversed with simple changes at home. We take X-rays only when necessary, always prioritizing your child’s safety, comfort, and long-term health.
Early detection. Healthier smiles. Peace of mind for parents.
Safe & Gentle Digital X-Rays for Kids

At Flower Hill Dental Care, we provide gentle, professional fluoride treatments to help protect your child’s teeth from cavities between visits. Fluoride works by strengthening tooth enamel, making it more resistant to the acids and bacteria that lead to decay—an essential step in your child’s preventive dental care.
For younger children, we apply a fluoride varnish that quickly hardens on contact with saliva, creating a protective layer that stays in place until brushed off later that evening. For older kids, we use soft foam trays that sit comfortably over the teeth, paired with a gentle suction to keep the mouth clear during treatment.
No matter the method, fluoride strengthens enamel, reduces the risk of cavities, and keeps your child’s smile strong as they grow. It’s a simple treatment with long-lasting benefits—and a big step toward lifelong dental health.

Custom Sports Mouthguards
Active kids deserve protection—especially when it comes to their smile. From football to gymnastics, dental injuries account for nearly 20% of sports-related injuries in children.
We offer custom-made sports mouthguards designed to fit your child’s teeth perfectly for maximum comfort and safety. A quick dental impression is all it takes to help protect their growing smile during games, practices, and play.

Tooth-Colored Fillings
At Flower Hill Dental Care, we use tooth-colored fillings to restore your child’s smile in the most natural, comfortable way possible. These modern fillings blend seamlessly with the surrounding tooth and are strong enough to support everyday chewing and wear.
If decay is present, your child’s dentist will gently remove the affected area. A local anesthetic may be used for comfort, and sedation options are available if your child feels anxious. The tooth is then prepared with a special cleaning gel before placing the composite filling. Once shaped, it’s hardened with a light and polished to a smooth, natural finish.
To keep the restoration healthy, we recommend consistent brushing, flossing, and regular checkups—so your child can enjoy a strong, cavity-free smile.

Tooth Extractions
Tooth extractions can be a source of anxiety for both kids and parents, but they are a common and carefully managed procedure at Flower Hill Dental Care. In cases of advanced decay or the need to create space for orthodontic treatment, your child’s dentist may recommend an extraction.
After gently numbing the area with local anesthetic, the tooth is removed with care. If the extraction is complex or your child feels anxious, we may offer sedation options for a more comfortable experience. Once complete, gauze is placed over the site to stop bleeding and support proper healing.
For the first 24 hours, avoid straws, rinsing, or spitting to protect the healing site. Apply a cold compress wrapped in a towel for 20 minutes at a time to reduce swelling. Contact our office immediately if your child experiences fever, chills, or severe discomfort.
Our team is here to support your child’s comfort and recovery every step of the way.
